Working from home

Now I would say that the company I work for is really good to its employees, really it is. It's also in the top five of its class in the World, so it's big and these two points are usually in contention, yet the company really do try and focus on the employee despite their size.
For instance I'm allowed flexi-time to work around seeing movies (although there aren't that many premieres or screenings in Edinburgh, plus I'm allowed to work from home from time to time. However, there's a big problem with working from home.
I actually think it's amazing for a company that is so looked upon for being so technology focused, but right now I'm connected to my work via a 28.8kbps dial-up line.
Yup, that's it. 28.8kbps. I can sometimes get up to 48kbps, but for the majority I'm somewhere between 28-38kbps. Unbelievable.
I forget how slow modems are now that I have Broadband at home, permanantly connected and messages sent and delivered almost instantly. I can wait minutes for something to happen on a dial-up, it's incredible.
Perhaps though it's a ploy not to encourage too many people to work from home. That would make sense. but still, 28.8kbps?

Given the amount of work people actually do when "working" from home, 28.8 is quite generous.
Now, where's my paintbrush?????
