Lost Friends

Posted by richardb at Friday 23 September 2005 | Comments (5)

I'm sitting at work just thinking about the Soundtrack of my Life that I'm working on in the remaining half hour before I leave to go home for a two week holiday, and I started getting all melancholy. You see most of the songs remind me of people, not many songs are connecting me to things, they're all people. Some of those people were really, really good friends...well when I say some I actually mean two. Stu and Eddie. Both I've lost touch with and despite a few conversations since, we've never really got back together as the great friends...

Preordering the XBox 360?

Posted by richardb at Tuesday 20 September 2005 | Comments (9)

There's no denying it, I've stopped playing videogames as much as I used to. I still play though, and I love playing them. Getting caught up in it, whether it's feeling as though it's really you in the dark suit creeping about and getting huge frights when the alarm is raised, or just racing around a track against other cars, the feeling of escapism, relaxation and adrenaline is superb fun. I've become really selective in what I play now though, I look for something with really good playability, usually very immersive, and it must have longevity too. That usually means...

Opening night

Posted by richardb at Tuesday 20 September 2005 | Comments (3)

I thought that the party on Wednesday night was impressive. Having Mark Webber race the BMW-Williams Formula 1 car around the building was amazing to say the least. Then there was the Queen and the Duke, music, entertainers, loads of food and plenty drink, it was a spectacular night. Just all over too quickly. Well it wasn't the only opening night, there was another on the Friday, to which a selected number of employees from around the world were invited. Luckily my girlfriend was one, and her invite allowed a partner. Wednesday's night was a mere starter......

Waiting for the Queen

Working where I do is indeed a privileged thing. It's probably no surprise to people who read this site where I work, but I still shall not mention it. Suffice to say it's one of the top five in the world when compared to its competitors, and having just built a hugely impressive new American campus style headquarters, its now really looking like it too. So today we're having the first of two opening nights where employees are invited. Tonight is the all inclusive evening, and Friday the more exclusive one. Luckily I've been invited to both. Now, as I...

Redesign is done!

Posted by richardb at Saturday 10 September 2005 | Comments (1)

It's done! I've just finished the changes to the site, and I'm pretty chuffed with it. I think there will be tweaks and such as I go along, but for the most part it's looking good and I do feel it doesn't look like most of the other sites out there. Now, back to getting content in it, mainly in the reviews sections! Plus I need to get my photo album sorted out. Luckily it's pouring tomorrow, although there may be a calling for some DIY. Night all, and please let me know what you think of the site....

Q&A with Paul Schrader - Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist

Posted by richardb at Sunday 4 September 2005 | Comments (0)

The Q&A session after Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist with Paul Schrader gave me the impression that Schrader is a man carrying a lot on his shoulders, and this whole experience has thoroughly disheartened him, although he carries much pride in his version of the movie. With only fifty thousand dollars for post production, compared with Harlins one million dollar budget, he had to pull many favours to get the music, colour mix and other post production activities completed. The movie that we watched was Schraders personal print, another highlight of the movie, so he does carry a pride of...

Site redesign

Posted by richardb at Saturday 3 September 2005 | Comments (0)

I've been thinking on doing this for some time now, and it's going to be my first official redesign since I built the site and learnt HTML on the way! I started off with a test blog and playing around with the settings there, but I've realised I needed to start pulling across all the different indexes and tweak them, etc, etc. So I got a bit bored of that and I've decided to go and redesign on the live site...(queue dramatic 'dun dun DUN!" music). The site, it is a-changing....

Figured out Lost?

Posted by richardb at Thursday 1 September 2005 | Comments (7)

Just yesterday, as we sat and watched Lost a flash of inspiration came to me. I think I've figured it out. My girlfriend asked what I thought, and she asked a lot, so I told her. Surprisingly she agreed, and after the episode finished we were both really convinced. I'm not going to give it away, and there is the huge chance I'm wrong of course, but right now it really does look like it could be the whole premise behind the show. If not, it really should be because it's a great idea! In fact...I wonder what other event...
