This is the book that dragged me into reading about the truth, about discovering what is really going on in our world today, and about looking beyond the medias headlines and the Governments spin. Above all this book showed me how the people in power are so disconnected from reality, how much pain and suffering has happened in Rwanda and the force of will that those brave UN Soldiers showed in order to save the people they did.

Ashes to Ashes - Tami Hoag

It's really difficult to judge if a book will be any good by other peoples reviews unless you really know them personally, however you can usually judge them well in the Guardian, and this is one of those very books.
Hoags' style is short and abrupt. He doesn't pull any punches and when you're dealing with a book concerning a highly intelligent and manipulative serial killer who burns his victims after hours of torture, you know it's going to be a rough read.

The Dark Tower series - Stephen King

I think I’ve spent about seven years in the hands of Stephen King and on the quest for the Dark Tower alongside Roland of Deschain. Sure, I’ve read other books by other authors both good and bad, and there have been long periods where Roland just walked onwards, but I’d always wait, and he would be there again.

The final of my 3 for 2 from Waterstones, and definitely the best out of the three. Well, I say that, but it was so close to Greg Isle's "Dark Matter" it is difficult to separate them.
